Elizabeth: Senior Portraits

I see Elizabeth almost every week at church. I approached her about a month ago about the possibility of taking her senior portraits. I was pleasantly surprised when she excitedly responded and accepted the offer.

I spent a lot of time with Elizabeth during her session, but we walked away with some amazing picture!

First, we started at Elizabeth's home. I just had to try out this corn field!
One of Elizabeth's only requests was that we snap a few pictures of she and her dog.

Elizabeth's mom had a request of her own. Brother and sister.

Elizabeth is a senior at St. James School. It was only fitting that we spend part of our session on campus. I LOVE the bus shots!

This was after we found a snake. Yes, a snake! I wanted to take a few pictures near this one tree. Unfortunately, a plaque was in the way so Elizabeth volunteered to move it. After she lifted the plaque, she calmly said, "Oh my gosh, there's a snake under there." Did you notice that I said that she said it CALMLY!?! My reaction would have been "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - that's me screaming and running away. Plan B - new tree, and this one turned out to be a good one...with no snakes.
It rained almost the entire day. Luckily for us, it cleared up just in time and the sun was out for most of the session. I still thought it would be cool to incorporate the rain in the pictures. Enter cute rain boots and umbrella. Thanks for entertaining my idea, Elizabeth.

So not only did Elizabeth nearly wrestle a snake and throw on some rain boots for her crazy photographer, she also posed amongst this sketchy, yet beautiful, mossy greeness. We were unsure of it, but knew it would be great for pictures. I think we were right...
Elizabeth definitely brought some attitude and spunk.

Elizabeth - thank you so much for being a trooper! You were absolutely wonderful in front of the camera! I hope you are enjoying your pictures. :)

Katie and Rhet: Engagement

I had the privilege of taking engagement pictures for the fabulous (and I mean FABULOUS) Katie and Rhet. This beautiful couple received my information from a good friend, Brittany Higgins. She graciously referred Katie and Rhet to me and I am so thankful!

I spent 3.5 hours (yes, 3.5 hours!) with Katie and Rhet exploring the Antietam Battlefield and the city of Hagerstown. It was worth every minute. Check out these beautiful results! WARNING: lots of pictures and lots of FABULOUSNESS!

I love experimenting and trying new things when on a shoot so I was very happy with how this one turned out!

Katie and Rhet brought their new dog, Camedon, along for the shoot. What a great family photo!

Rhet is an amazing musician and singer. I was so glad he brought his guitar. Next album cover maybe?? :)

I was laying on the road to get this shot. Like I said, I like to try new things. :)

Change of clothes! Purple and yellow - amazingly awesome complimentary colors!

Their shoes were awesome!

Katie's friends Lacy and Bubba tagged along for part of the shoot. They helped keep Camedon entertained while I worked with Katie and Rhet. Thanks for being great helpers, Lacy and Bubba!

Finally! Railroad tracks for an engagement session!

Might be the cutest one of the bunch!

I love when a couple brings their own ideas and unique personalities to the shoot.

Check out that beautiful blue sky! We didn't allow a little darkness to stop us!

We were hoping to get some shots in the rain to add an extra element of surprise and attitude to the session. It wasn't raining that day so Katie and Rhet decided to bring their own "rain"...

I LOVE the light and color in this one. I didn't know night shots could be so cool!

Rhet wanted to try the "airplane" during the session. Don't you remember doing this with your parents, grandparents and babysitters back in the day? I do!

Gotta have a little fun. :)

Shortly after I gave Rhet their completed engagement lifestyle portrait collection CD, he texted me and was loving the pictures! Not too long after that Rhet texted me again and asked me to be their wedding photographer. I was soooo excited! Rhet and Katie are such a wonderful couple. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding!

Rhet and Katie - thank you so much for being up for anything, and for being just so plain fabulous!

Kayla and Scott: Engagement

Kayla and Scott were recently engaged at the Hagerstown City Park in Hagerstown, MD. So It was only fitting that we return to the park for their engagement pictures.

Kayla and Scott are one of the most in-love couples that I've had to date. They were constantly hugging, kissing and peering into each other's eyes. You can tell they are happily content and are just plain happy.

I was so proud of this picture when I pulled it up in Photoshop, and I am still pretty proud of it. I was able to conquer the silhouette shot AND beautiful sunburst all-in-one! Pretty cool, huh?

Gotta have a little fun during your engagement session!

One of my favorites!

Another favorite! Love the lines created by the trees.

I was so excited when Kayla and Scott agreed to entertain my idea of shooting in an ice cream shop! We stopped at the Big Dipper in Hagerstown after our time at the park. What a great close to a great evening.

Kayla and Scott - thanks for a great session! You two were fabulous! :)
